The Ministry of Internal Affairs is stranded with over 10,000 passports that are lying idle in their stores at Kyambogo.

Simon Mundeyi, the Internal Affairs Ministry Spokesperson says that the passports were applied for by those intending to travel and successfully issued but their owners haven’t picked them out.

Mundeyi says that their stores are now full that they have no space to keep other passports.

He further points out plans to wipe out masqueraders extorting money from the passport clients under the pretext of being the ministry officials.

Meanwhile, Mundeyi disclosed that they are going to launch a Passport office in Abu-Dhabi this week as well as a call center at the Ministry of Internal Affairs offices to ease the service delivering to Ugandans in the country and those in the United Arab Emirates.
