The Congregation of the Little Sisters of St. Francis and the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Africa for the first time since pronouncement to start the cause of beatifying the Servant of God Mother Kevin converged at Nkokonjeru mother house to celebrate the 60th year since the death of their foundress.

Mother Kevin who was a white Religious Sister from Ireland offered selfless service in Uganda in her lifetime between 1903 to 1957, among which include; hospitals, schools, orphanage homes and women groups aimed at helping the needy, the woman and the girl child to be self reliant.

The Vicar general of Lugazi diocese Msgr. Richard Kayondo noted with gratitude the contribution of Mother Kevin through the marginalized in her missionary commitment in Africa and Uganda which he described as a “Treasure” that has helped many.

Msgr. Kayondo said people should always strive for action than words and above all to fight the self which compromised individual call to service.

Mother Kevin left her country to serve Africans with all pain and suffering but never relented a lesion that must taken by Ugandans.

The Vice Postulator for the cause of Mother Kevin’s beautification Sr. Margaret Kubanze Namubiru called for prayers, presentation of testimonies and financial support to facilitate the work of compiling the information required on the deeds of Mother Kevin that have to be sent to Rome for scrutiny.

In response to her call the celebrations saw the launching of Maama Kevin mineral water with a number of boxes bought at 20 million shillings in cash and pledges mainly from the schools and projects run by the Little Sisters of St. Francis.

The cause of beatification of Mother Kevin was announced on November 14th 2016 at Lubaga Cathedral by the Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga together with the ordinary of Lugazi Rt. Rev. Bishop Christopher Kakooza along with a number of officials from Rome. On the list of those for the cause of beatification include the first white missionaries to Uganda Fr. Laudel Mopeela and Br. Amans.
