The Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere has noted with concern with the way some Communicators and agents of Communicators including social media influencers are misusing the media.

Archbishop Ssemogerere says of late the media has been abused; instead it’s being used to spread hatred, propaganda, insults and indecency among other vices which kills the bond and love amongst God’s people.

In his homily at the celebrations of the 57th world social communications day at Lubaga Cathedral Archbishop Ssemogerere reminded social communicators and all those using tools of communication that it’s a noble role requiring them to use them to promote unity, peace, love and justice.

Drawing from the Pope’s message under the theme; Speaking with the heart: “The truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15), he said communicators must communicate truth and compassion; this is evangelization that God calls for.

He reminded those in authority including the security to exercise Charity to the communicators and journalists while in line of duty, urging them to tell the truth for the good of this country.

He also congratulated the Mothers upon reaching to this Mothers day, and prayed that may everyone know and reflect on the role of mothers in each ones life, protect them from all forms of abuse and mistreatment because without them God’s mission of supporting co-creation would not be.

Archbishop Ssemogerere co-celebrated with Archbishop Augustine Kasujja and Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Franzelli the Chairman Social Communications Commission at the Uganda Episcopal Conference and priest serving in various communications departments from the 19 catholic dioceses, while the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa was the chief guest among other dignitaries.
