MP Odria Alioni Calls for Wider Corruption Probe Targeting Finance Ministry and Parliament Officials

The Member of Parliament for Aringa South Constituency, Odria Alioni

The Member of Parliament for Aringa South Constituency, Odria Alioni, has called for a broader crackdown on corruption, urging investigators to extend ongoing probes to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament, Alioni alleged the existence of a coordinated network involving officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Auditor General, and Parliament, which he said requires urgent investigation.

He specifically accused State Minister for Finance Henry Musasizi of coordinating activities between the Ministry of Finance and Parliament, particularly through the office of former Speaker Annet Anita Among, who is currently under police investigation over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.

Alioni also called on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba to widen the ongoing investigations to include the Office of the Director of Finance in Parliament, the Clerk to Parliament, as well as the Directorates of Communications, Human Resources, Transport and Logistics, and chairpersons of the Budget and Finance committees.

Despite raising concerns about corruption, Alioni reaffirmed his commitment to contesting in the Speakership race scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026.
