The Executive Chairman of the Opposition People’s Front for Freedom, Erias Lukwago, has welcomed the ongoing joint security operation targeting former Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among over allegations of illicit enrichment and money laundering.
The operation, which reportedly began over the weekend, is said to have involved extensive searches at two of Among’s residences and has since prompted her withdrawal from the race for Speaker of the 12th Parliament.
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters in Kampala, Lukwago urged both the government and Ugandans not to show mercy to Among, accusing her of disorganizing Parliament during her tenure as Speaker.
Meanwhile, Lukwago also called on Ugandans not to lose focus on what he described as alleged succession plans aimed at positioning the Chief of Defence Forces and First Son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to eventually succeed his father, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
