Denis Namara Declares Bid for Deputy Speakership, Promises Economic Reforms and Accountability

Buyanga West Member of Parliament Denis Namara

Buyanga West Member of Parliament Denis Namara has officially declared his bid for the Deputy Speakership of Uganda’s 12th Parliament, presenting himself as a reform-oriented leader committed to economic transformation and accountability.

Namara, a lawyer and former member of the East African Legislative Assembly, previously chaired the influential EALA Budget Committee, where he gained recognition for his leadership and oversight role in regional legislative affairs.

He said his focus will be on championing legislation that supports Uganda’s ambitious goal of achieving ten-fold economic growth by 2040.

Namara also pledged to help rebuild public trust in Parliament amid persistent corruption concerns.

He vowed to use the office of Deputy Speaker to strengthen anti-corruption efforts within Parliament and across government institutions, aligning his agenda with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s renewed campaign against corruption.
