The Busega-Mpigi Expressway that commenced in May 2020 is a 23.7km–27.3km four-lane dual carriage project designed to reduce traffic gridlock on the Kampala-Masaka highway, connecting Kampala city to Mpigi District. It is being constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and the China Railway 19th Bureau Group Company Limited.
