Buganda Kingdom has presented its memorandum on land matters before the Land Probe and challenged the abolition of Mailo land tenure system.

Accompanied by the a delegation of Kingdom Chiefs led by the Attorney General, David Mpanga as well as the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Minister in Buganda Apollo Makubuya, the Kitikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga says that this recommendation has a secret agenda that targets grabbing Buganda land.

This eminent from the Land Commission of Inquiry led by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire recently submitted interim report to the President allegedly recommending for the abolition of mailo land tenure system and the fusion of tenure systems into one to avoid land fraud.

Katikkiro further demands that 1990 Land Act be implemented; reform land laws and government drop the land amendments of forceful acquisition of land and compensation of land owners for development.

Mayiga further asks government to expedite the process of returning land and properties of Buganda ex-communicated officers and reinstate the Federal system of governance for regions to operate their own properties.
