Police have confirmed that three people died and six others sustained serious injuries following a suspected arson incident in the early hours of today in Nansana West, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.

The deceased have been identified as Bulali Isabirye, Namulondo Annet, and Nonyombi Violet. Police said the three victims were burnt beyond recognition in the fire.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said the incident occurred at a rental property owned by Nonyombi Violet, who was also among those who died in the fire.

According to Rusoke, police are investigating the incident as a case of arson. Preliminary findings indicate that the person suspected of starting the fire allegedly first chased some of her children out of the house before the fire spread.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, including what may have led to the suspected arson and how the blaze started.

The six injured victims were rushed for medical attention, while police continue with investigations into the incident.
