The Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Grade One Magistrate Aidah Nanjala, has remanded Vincent Arnold Nsamba, alias Sitenda, to Luzira Upper Prison until November 3, 2026.

Nsamba is the prime suspect in the death of legendary Ugandan musician and saxophonist Moses Matovu, a co-founder of Afrigo Band.

Prosecution alleges that on September 24, 2026, Nsamba assaulted Matovu at Kibuli Depot and Market Zone B in Makindye Division following a dispute reportedly related to a love relationship. Matovu, 77, was later taken to Kibuli Hospital, where he died from the injuries.

Nsamba was brought before court on Monday afternoon, where the charge of murder was read to him.

During the proceedings, the prosecution told court that investigations into the alleged murder were still ongoing.

The court subsequently remanded Nsamba to Luzira Upper Prison until November 3, 2026, when he is expected to return to court for further mention.

A second suspect, Rose Tumusiime, was also brought to the court premises but was not presented before the magistrate.

The prosecution alleges that Nsamba killed Matovu on September 24 at Kibuli Depot and Market Zone B in Makindye Division.
