The Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority, Ronald Balimwezo, has unveiled his cabinet, appointing members of the National Unity Platform to all four positions allocated to his office by law.
In the appointments announced today, Faridah Nakabugo, the Woman Councillor representing Lubaga II, was named Deputy Lord Mayor.
Shamimu Nambasa, the Woman LC5 Councillor for Kawempe II, was appointed Executive Secretary for Finance, while Judith Nalukwago, a Woman Councillor for Makindye III, was named Secretary for Social Services.
Meanwhile, Godfrey Luyombya, the LC5 Councillor representing Nakawa II, was appointed Executive Secretary for Planning and Civil Works.
Speaking to the media after unveiling the cabinet, Balimwezo stressed the importance of teamwork, saying the success of the new leadership would depend on unity, shared purpose, and collective responsibility rather than individual effort.
He pointed to several persistent challenges facing Kampala, including poor road infrastructure, frequent flooding, unemployment, sanitation gaps, and growing pressure on healthcare services, noting that these issues require coordinated action from all leaders.
The newly appointed Deputy Lord Mayor, Nakabugo, pledged to work with leaders across political divides to improve service delivery for the people of Kampala.
