The National Unity Platform (NUP) Elections Management Committee (EMC) has invited expressions of interest and the collection of nomination forms from individuals seeking to contest for the Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament seat on the party ticket.

The position fell vacant following the death of the area Woman MP, Hellen Nakimuli, last month.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule, EMC Deputy Chairperson John Mary Ssebuufu said the exercise officially commenced today and will run until Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Ssebuufu explained that the vetting of aspiring candidates will take place on Saturday, May 16, after which successful applicants will participate in a public debate aimed at helping party members assess and select a suitable flag bearer.

He emphasized that all interested aspirants must present a National ID, a valid party membership card, and the required academic qualifications.

Meanwhile, EMC Chairperson Harriet Chamutia called on security agencies and the Electoral Commission to ensure a free and fair electoral process without interference.
