Cause of Nakimuli’s Death Still Unknown as Burial Program Is Released

The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, has revealed that the official report detailing the exact cause of death of the late Kalangala District Woman MP, Hellen Nakimuli, is not yet available.

Ssenyonyi called on medical authorities to expedite the postmortem process to provide clarity to both the family and the public regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

Nakimuli reportedly passed away on April 19, 2026, following a minor surgical procedure.

Meanwhile, burial arrangements have been announced. The body is expected to be transported today to Kalangala District, her home district, where it will lie overnight.

On Tuesday morning, a district council meeting will be held, followed by a public viewing to allow residents to pay their last respects.

On Wednesday, a special parliamentary session will be convened in her honor.

Thereafter, the body will be taken to the National Unity Platform headquarters in Kavule, before an evening vigil at her home in Namungoona.

The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday morning at the Orthodox Church in Namungoona.

After the service, the body will be transported for burial later that evening in Luwero District.

The passing of Hellen Nakimuli continues to leave Parliament and the nation in mourning as tributes pour in for the fallen legislator.
