EC; All is set for the Kawempe North By-election

The National Electoral Commission is preparing voting materials for the Kawempe North By-election that is scheduled for tomorrow March 13th 2025.

The constituency has got Nine Parishes with a total of 199,081 number of voters and 197 polling centres.

The election that has 10 candidateswill be overseen by Henry Makabai, the returning officer for Kampala, and Rehema Nassuna, the assistant returning officer for Kawempe.

The EC chairman Simon Byabakama has called for calmness among the candidates and cautioned them against engaging in bribing voters. He has assured to deliver a peaceful, free and fair by-election to the mutual satisfaction of all stakeholders.”

The Campaigns for this seat were closed yesterday with President Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaigning in Kawempe Mbogo the NRM candidate Faridah Nambirallied the people of Kawempe North to vote for a political party that understands and has solutions for their problems.

The candidate for the opposition National Unity Platform Erias Nalukoola held his final rally at Komamboga where party top leaders challenged government not to interfere in the election using security forces.

The polls that are taking place tomorrow Thursday 13th March 2025 will begin at 7am to 4pm. The tallying of the votes will take place at Makerere University Institute Public Health Auditorium.
