The Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Dan Odongo has released the time table for the 2024 final examinations.
The time table includes four sets of examinations which include; the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), two sets of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for both the old knowledge based curriculum and the new competence based curriculum as well as for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
This is going to be the first time that UNEB will be examining the candidates of the New Lower Secondary Curriculum for the award of UCE certificates.
According to the time table, PLE will run from 4th-7th November, UCE New Lower Secondary Curriculum will start on 11th October-8th November, UCE transitional examination based on old curriculum will start on 11th-15th November and the UACE exams will start on Friday 8th November – 6th December 2024.
Speaking to the press at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, Odongo confirmed a total of 1,320,400 candidates registered for the four sets of examinations of which 51.1% are females while 48.9% are males.
Of those registered, 379,620 will sit for UCE and these include 369,477 for the new curriculum and 10,143 for the transitional examinations.
Odongo has also confirmed the extension of submission of continuous assessment scores from September 30th to October 30th 2024 to give ample time to schools to compile and submit the scores on the portal as they were barred from delivering the course work assessment marks physically.
