Speaker Gives ROKO 10-Month Deadline to Complete New Parliamentary Chambers

The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oboth Oboth

The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oboth Oboth, has given ROKO Construction a 10-month deadline to complete the long-delayed construction of the new parliamentary chambers.

The directive follows a comprehensive site inspection by the Parliamentary Commission, which agreed that the contractor must complete the project by June 30, 2027.

ROKO officials, who attended a meeting with the Commission, formally committed in writing to deliver the project within the new deadline, under close supervision by Parliament.

During the meeting with ROKO and the project consultants, the Commission reviewed the causes of the previous delays, including structural design changes and cash-flow challenges faced by the contractor.

Speaker Oboth has stressed the need for strict adherence to the new timeline, as Parliament seeks to bring the long-delayed chambers project to completion.

The new deadline is intended to provide a firm completion target and ensure greater accountability in the final phase of the project.
