Police in Kampala have arrested a woman in connection with the stabbing murder of Jovia Namuwulya in Bukoto.

Patricia Rose Turindwamukama was arrested on August 24, four days after Namuwulya was killed in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.

According to police, Turindwamukama was arrested at a friend’s house in Mbuya, also in Nakawa Division, where she was allegedly preparing to flee the country for Iraq. She remains in police custody as investigations into the killing continue.

Preliminary police findings indicate that Turindwamukama applied for an Iraqi visa on August 21, a day after Namuwulya was killed.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said relevant documents were recovered during the arrest and are being examined as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding Namuwulya’s death.

The arrest follows the August 20 stabbing incident in which Namuwulya was killed.

Kawala did not disclose the suspected motive or provide further details about the circumstances leading to the killing, saying investigations are still ongoing.

Police are expected to establish the events surrounding the murder and determine the suspect’s alleged involvement as inquiries continue.
