NRM to Elect LCII Flag Bearers Ahead of Parish Elections

Dr. Tanga Odoi Addressing the media at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) will tomorrow elect its flag bearers for LCII Chairperson and Women Councillor positions at the parish level.

The exercise is in line with the party’s Electoral Commission roadmap, which schedules the LCII Women Councillor elections for August 7 and the LCII Chairperson elections for August 10 across the country.

Addressing the media at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala on Thursday, Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi said only members of the recently elected LC I Executive Committees will be eligible to contest for the party flag.

He added that voting will be conducted by members of the LC I Executive Committees elected during the recently concluded village-level party elections.

Dr. Odoi further announced that in areas where LC I elections were not successfully conducted, fresh elections will be held next week to enable those areas to elect NRM flag bearers for the forthcoming LCII elections.
