Archbishop Ssemogerere donates land to Legion of Mary

The Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemogerere

The Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemogerere has donated land to support activities and the devotion of the legion of Mary in the Archdiocese.

The land measuring 0.5 Decimals is located in Nsambya near St. Peter’s Parish, Makindye Division and according to the leadership of the Legion of Mary administration they are to embark on developing the land for pastoral activities.

They have planned to start soon possibly with the construction of a storied building to accommodate offices and coordinating Legion of Mary activities.

The Cathedral Administrator Kampala Archdiocese Fr. Achilles Mayanja hailed the Archbishop for his contribution and welcomed the idea of developing the land now.  He challenged the legionaries that the suggested 1000/= contribution from each of the 500,000 members of the movement per month for two years could be simplified by encouraging all members to donate more than that starting with this holy month of Mother Mary – May 2026.

He further said the contribution should not come from only legionaries but all Catholics within the Archdiocese.

Fr. Mayanja emphasized that the services of the legionaries is handy at the time when the country is grappling with vices that include among others; corruption, indecency, domestic violence, the violation of human rights and freedom, high taxes that need prayers through the intercession of Mother Mary to save Ugandan and the country in general  from such bad actions.

The Kampala Archdiocesan Lay Apostolate Movements Chairperson Mrs Lulume Namaalwa also called for the nurturing of Children in faith one of the pillars to good leadership.

Mrs Lulume said Uganda will suffer from leadership gaps if children are not guided to explore how they can achieve their destiny most importantly leadership positions.

She insists that Catholic founded schools are the best places to nurture the young children into good morals and values including leadership skills.
