Technical Institutions advised to align courses with NDP-V

The assistant Commissioner Technical Vocational Education and Training TVET in the ministry of Education Dr. Eddy Turyatemba has called on Private skills training institutions to align their curriculum and training with the National Development plan V aimed at transforming this country into middle income status.

Dr. Turyatemba says the four key sectors outlined to drive the country to middle income status by 2040 with a Gross Domestic Product expected to rise from USD 50 million to USD 500 million focuses on; Agro – Industrialisation, Tourism, mineral exploration and development, Science, technological development and innovation and Human Capital Development.

These four areas will enable value addition and export promotion in both goods and service provision to transform, Balance of Trade and investment to improve on the national income, economic growth and development.

He said this while officiating at the 5th graduation ceremony for St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi a celebration that coincided with the marking of the St. Joseph the worker’s day the patron saint of the institution.

Dr. Turyatemba said Technological transfer and exploration specifically Artificial Intelligence that has transformed the modern system of information technology that is threatening human resources operations safe for practical skills services that must be jealously protected.

A total of 630 students graduated with National Certificates in Automotive Mechanics, Building Construction, Electrical Installation Systems, Fashion and Garment Design, Leather tanning and production, Plumbing, Woodwork Technology and Welding and Fabrication.

The Technical Vocational Education and Training Operations and Management (TVETOM) department within the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) manages, regulates, and standardizes TVET delivery, overseeing 146+ government and numerous private institutions. It drives the “Skilling Uganda” strategy through specialized training, licensing, and national assessments for technical and vocational certificates/diplomas.
