JEEMA Calls for Mental Health Support and Voluntary Retirement for Ex-Speaker Rebecca Kadaga Following NRM CEC Election Defeat

Ex-Speaker Rebecca Kadaga

The opposition party Justice Forum (JEEMA) has called for immediate mental health support and voluntary retirement for ex-Speaker Rebecca Kadaga following the results of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections.

Kadaga was defeated by Speaker Annet Anita Among in the race for the National Vice Chairperson Female position of NRM in yesterday’s elections.

Addressing journalists in Kampala today, Swaib Kaggwa Nsereko, JEEMA’s spokesman, expressed sympathy for ex-Speaker Rebecca, describing her political journey as a “national humiliation” for the second time.

Nsereko emphasized that there are important lessons to be learned from this experience and urged mental health support for Kadaga, suggesting she be given a mental soothing holiday, preferably outside the country, to help her cope with the current reality.

He also advocated for voluntary retirement, stating that long-serving party leaders should consider this to foster a culture of renewal and fresh perspectives within the NRM party and Uganda as a whole.
