Entebbe Airport nears record high with 213,000 international passengers in June

CAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya

Entebbe International Airport handled 213,217 international passengers in June 2025, marking its second-highest monthly total on record, according to new data from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The airport recorded 106,583 arrivals and 106,634 departures, averaging 7,107 passengers per day just below its all-time peak in December 2024, which averaged 7,171 daily.

June’s figures show a sharp rise from May 2025, when Entebbe processed 198,052 international passengers, including 97,568 arrivals and 100,484 departures.

CAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya attributes the growth to a combination of return travel from the Hijja pilgrimage, increased tourism, a surge in business travel, and several international conferences hosted in Uganda during the month.

Cargo traffic also remained strong. Entebbe recorded 6,293 metric tonnes of cargo in June, comprising 4,332 tonnes of exports and 1,961 tonnes of imports, signaling a robust flow of goods alongside growing passenger numbers.

The latest statistics reinforce Entebbe’s rising profile as a regional aviation hub, reflecting renewed global confidence in travel and Uganda’s expanding role in international trade and tourism.
