Makerere University delivered a dominant 6-1 performance against Wakiso Hill in the Women’s Super League at St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga, showcasing an impressive team effort.
Zaina Namuleme’s standout four-goal performance was the highlight of the match, but the win was a collective effort, with several players contributing to the scoreboard.
The game kicked off with a bang as Namuleme scored within the second minute with a powerful strike, giving Makerere an early lead.
However, Wakiso Hill responded quickly, equalizing just two minutes later through Resty Maggie Bwire, who scored from a close-range header following a goalmouth scramble off a corner kick.
Despite this brief setback, Makerere continued to dominate, with Namuleme capitalizing on defensive errors to put her side ahead once again in the 10th minute.
The second half saw Makerere’s clinical finishing shine. Namuleme completed her hat trick in the 67th minute with a confident penalty after a handball by Rukia Namusoke, and then added a brilliant curler just three minutes later to make it 4-1.
Former Wakiso Hill forward Rashida Nankya also got her name on the score sheet in the 75th minute, while Rebecca Nakasaato wrapped up the scoring in the 79th minute after a mistake by Wakiso Hill’s goalkeeper Halima Kasuubo.
This victory lifted Makerere University to 6th place with 22 points, while Wakiso Hill remained at the bottom of the league standings with just five points from 17 games, seemingly on the brink of relegation.
Despite a promising equalizer early in the match, Wakiso Hill struggled defensively; leaving them vulnerable to Makerere’s sharp attacking play.
