Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) is skeptical of delivering its planned services in the coming financial year of 2025/2026 due to budget shortfalls.
According to the report by the Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee presented before the Parliament’s Budget Committee, the Commission had requested for 40.2 billion shillings but only 2 billion shillings was allocated by the Finance Ministry in their budget.
While presenting the report, the Chairperson of the Presidential Affairs Committee of Parliament, Alex Byarugaba (Isingiro South MP) noted that failure to provide adequate funds to the Commission will affect their operations in disseminating and providing services that will prevent and reduce new HIV infections across the country.
According to the UAC budget, they are bound to suffer a budget shortfall of 38.2 billion shillings.
