The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has lashed out at the National Electoral Commission (EC) for its inability to organize a digitalized registration and update of the national voters’ exercise.
This criticism comes as the voters’ register update exercise kicked off on Monday January 20th and will run till February 10th 2025 in preparation for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
According to the FDC National Youth League Chairperson, Francis Adepo, the EC’s failure to facilitate digital registration and update of the voters’ register may disenfranchise many Ugandans, particularly in rural areas.
The FDC has also urged the EC to reconsider its approach and allocate more time for the voters’ registration exercise to ensure that no one is left behind.
Meanwhile, Adepo advised youths to embrace the process such that they fully participate in the forthcoming elections to change the political status quo in the country.
