The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa has applauded China for its significant support to Uganda.
This was during a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by H.E Zhong Shan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Finance and Economic Committee, Tayebwa expressed gratitude for China’s assistance in health, ICT, infrastructure and trade among others.
Tayebwa highlighted specific examples of Chinese support, including; the 50,000 test kits and 600,000 vaccine doses donated during the COVID-19 pandemic, financial support for the Entebbe International Airport expansion, construction of the Isimba hydro power dam and ratification of trade protocols.
On behalf of Parliament, Tayebwa pledged continued support for strengthening diplomatic relations with China.
