NIRA to Start Registering Civil Marriages

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced the commencement of registering places of worship that conduct civil marriages.

This is after Parliament approved the proposal to have NIRA take over the civil marriage registrations from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), arguing that the transfer should be done in a phased manner so as to allow NIRA to build the required capacity.

Osborn Mushabe, the Public Relations Officer at NIRA says that they will be issuing marriage certificates to married couples and also civil registration licenses to places of worship of all denominations.

He says the authority is ready to conduct this responsibility with all the necessary equipment required to take on the task already at their disposal.
