The Opposition Nasa leader Raila Odinga has announced that he will not take part in the October 26 presidential election re-run because he feels it will not be credible.

The decision was made Wednesday October 4th during the Nasa closed parliamentary group meeting at County Hall.

Pokot South MP David Pkosing had petition The High Court giving Nasa leaders four days to respond to a suit filed he sought to compel Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula as respondents to serve the petitioner with their defence not later than Thursday October 12th 2017 whether they will participate in the October 26th polls.

Today, National Super Alliance (Nasa) MPs boycotted the parliamentary sittings to debate proposed controversial changes to the election laws in the National Assembly and the Senate.

The move comes as the two Houses simultaneously debate the report on the two bills targeting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, Elections Act and the Election Offenses Act ahead of the October 26 election.

They want among other things to drop the requirement of the IEBC Chairman’s qualifications to be equivalent to a Supreme Court judge. The Vice Chair to the IEBC must become the head of the commission in case the chairman is absent and, if both of them are not around, the commissioners present can elect one of themselves to act as chairman.

The changes also seek to have concurrent electronic and manual transmission of tabulated results from polling stations to the constituency and national tallying centres. And if there is a discrepancy the manual process should prevail.

Presidential election petitioners will also be required to prove there were irregularities in the conduct of an election and how those irregularities affected the final result.

Meanwhile; Parliament was thrown in surprise Tuesday afternoon when Embakasi MP Paul Ongili also known as Babu Owino of ODM and Starehe MP Charles Njagua aka Jaguar is of Jubilee exchanged blows at Parliament media centre over accusations of disrespecting the Person of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
