The High Court in Masaka has dismissed an election petition filed by Rose Nalubowa challenging the victory of Hon. Justine Nameere in the Masaka Woman Parliamentary seat.
In his ruling, delivered electronically on October 21, 2026, through the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS), trial judge Justice Bernard Namanya held that Nalubowa had failed to prove that the election recount figures certified by the Chief Magistrate were erroneous.
Justice Namanya further ruled that the petitioner had failed to demonstrate that the exclusion of 1,353 valid votes substantially affected the outcome of the election.
The judge noted that even if the 1,353 votes had been added to Nalubowa’s certified tally of 23,176 votes, her total would have increased to 24,529, still falling short of Nameere’s 25,502 votes.
According to the court’s calculation, Nameere would have retained her lead by 973 votes, even after the disputed votes were added to Nalubowa’s tally.
Consequently, the court rejected Nalubowa’s request to overturn the election results and declare her the duly elected Member of Parliament for the Masaka Woman seat.
The petition was dismissed, with Nalubowa ordered to pay the costs of the petition.
