UNEB Assures All 2026 PLE Candidates Will Sit Exams Despite Registration Irregularities

UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has reassured parents and guardians that all candidates registered for the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will be allowed to sit their examinations, following concerns over registration irregularities at a school in Wakiso District.

Speaking during the fourth joint security and examinations press briefing held on Monday at Police Headquarters in Naguru, UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba confirmed that 11 learners from Skyland Primary School in Wakiso, who had initially missed registration, had successfully been registered at Kyebando UMEA Primary School.

Kalule-Musamba assured parents and guardians that the affected learners would sit their examinations alongside other candidates without any disruption.

She urged parents to remain calm, emphasising that arrangements had been made to ensure that no affected learner misses the national examinations due to the registration issue.

UNEB further revealed that a total of 920,833 candidates have registered for the 2026 PLE, representing a 12.5 per cent increase from the 817,885 candidates registered in 2025.

The examinations are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 3, with Mathematics in the morning, followed by Social Studies and Religious Education in the afternoon.

The Board’s assurance comes as thousands of candidates across the country prepare to sit their final primary school examinations, marking an important milestone in their academic journey.

Parents and school administrators have been urged to ensure that candidates are adequately prepared and report to their respective examination centres on time.
