The State House Health Monitoring Unit (SHHMU) will tomorrow, September 23, 2026, begin monitoring health facilities operated by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

The six-month exercise follows an engagement between the monitoring unit, the Minister for Kampala, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, heads of KCCA hospitals and other stakeholders ahead of the exercise.

Speaking during the engagement today, the Head of SHHMU, Dr. Warren Namara, said the exercise is a routine monitoring programme aimed at assessing the performance of KCCA health facilities and establishing whether public funds are being utilised appropriately.

Namara emphasised that the exercise is not intended to find fault with health workers or hospital administrators, but rather to identify gaps and support efforts to improve service delivery.

The Minister for Kampala, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, said the monitoring exercise will help address persistent complaints raised by patients at various KCCA health facilities across the city.

She said the findings will be compiled into a report that will provide important guidance to KCCA in addressing challenges affecting service delivery.

Dr. Sarah Zalwango, the Director of Public Health at KCCA, said the report will also help the authority identify gaps within its health facilities and determine areas that require intervention.

The monitoring exercise will cover all KCCA health facilities across Kampala and will run for six months.
