Tooro Kingdom has released the programme for the return of the body of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died on August 27, 2026, at the age of 34.
The body of the late Omukama is expected to arrive in Uganda on Friday, September 4, 2026, through Entebbe International Airport at approximately 10:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, President Yoweri Museveni is expected to receive the body, pay his last respects to the late Omukama, and convey his condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro, and the people of Uganda.
Following the ceremony at Entebbe International Airport, the body is expected to be transported by helicopter to Kyegegwa District.
From Kyegegwa, the body will be placed on an open carrier to allow members of the public along the route an opportunity to pay their last respects. The procession will then proceed towards Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal City, the seat of the Tooro Kingdom.
Omukama Oyo died in the United States on August 27, 2026, aged 34, after serving as the reigning monarch of Tooro for more than three decades.
He ascended to the throne in 1995 at the age of three, becoming one of the world’s youngest reigning monarchs.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway at the royal burial grounds, known as Amagasani, ahead of the funeral. The preparations have been ongoing since Monday.
Upon the arrival of the body in Tooro, the Kingdom’s official nine-day mourning period will commence as the Royal Family, the Kingdom, and mourners from across Uganda pay their final respects to the late Omukama.
