The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has called on parents to remain actively involved in the lives of their children, saying strong families are essential for nurturing disciplined and responsible citizens.
Officiating at the 119th anniversary celebrations of St. Peter’s Secondary School Nsambya, Archbishop Ssemogerere thanked parents for entrusting the Church with their children’s education but urged them not to leave the entire responsibility to schools.
At a celebration held on 1st July 2026 Archbishop Ssemogerere said many cases of indiscipline among learners stem from the absence of parents in their children’s lives and appealed to parents to continue supporting their children through guidance, care and payment of school fees to sustain quality education.
The Archbishop commended the school’s board, administration, teachers and chaplain for maintaining high academic and spiritual standards, describing faith formation as an important pillar in shaping young people.
Drawing lessons from Saints Peter and Paul, whose feast the Church celebrates on June 29, the Archbishop said the two apostles came from different backgrounds but were united by their faith and mission to proclaim the Gospel urging Christians to embrace unity despite their differences, noting that diversity should strengthen rather than divide society.
