Police Report Arrest of 2,334 Suspects in Kampala Crime Crackdown

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke

Police have pledged to continue conducting disruptive operations targeting criminal gangs behind a wave of crimes that have caused insecurity and concern among residents of Kampala and surrounding areas.

Speaking during the weekly security press briefing at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke appealed to members of the public to provide intelligence and evidence to help security agencies identify and apprehend those involved in criminal activity within their communities.

Kituuma revealed that a total of 2,334 suspects were arrested during operations carried out across the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area over the past two weeks.

He noted that all suspects were screened, and about 1,350 were subsequently arraigned in court on various charges. Others were released on police bond after investigations found insufficient grounds to continue holding them.

Kituuma emphasized that public cooperation remains critical in the fight against crime, urging citizens to continue sharing information that can support ongoing security operations.
