Police Investigate Death of Man Linked to Property Deal in Kampala

Uganda Police

Police have launched investigations into the death of Fahad Lubega, who was allegedly murdered under unclear circumstances in Kampala.

According to police, Lubega is said to have posed as an agent of Jiji Uganda and was involved in a property-related transaction involving an old building in the city.

It is alleged that a misunderstanding arose between Lubega and a prospective buyer during a bank transaction, an incident that is now at the center of ongoing investigations.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said detectives are handling two related cases, including suspected fraud connected to the transaction.

Preliminary findings indicate that Lubega had allegedly agreed to rent out a property to an unidentified businessman for four months at UGX 3 million, claiming to be acting on behalf of a Jiji agent.

However, the businessman later discovered that the building had already been sold.

Rusoke said investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the transaction and whether it is linked to Lubega’s death.
