The Vicar General of Kasana–Luweero Diocese, Msgr. Vincent Paul Mukiibi, has urged teachers to cultivate a strong culture of saving and investment in order to secure their financial well-being beyond active employment.
He made the appeal during a Eucharistic Mass held at the Teachers’ Garden in Kasana–Luweero Diocese, where educators gathered to celebrate the diocesan Teachers’ Day.
Msgr. Mukiibi emphasized the importance of prioritizing savings while still in employment, warning against the tendency to spend all income on immediate needs.
He encouraged teachers to invest in long-term ventures that can sustain them financially and keep them productive even after retirement.
He further advised single teachers, particularly men, to consider marriage, noting that some parents are hesitant to entrust their daughters to unmarried male teachers due to concerns about responsibility and role modelling.
In his remarks, he also cautioned educators against overcommitting to part-time teaching, saying it can undermine their focus, performance, and dedication in the classroom.
Msgr. Mukiibi urged teachers to be content with their earnings and avoid the constant pursuit of additional income, warning that such habits may compromise their effectiveness and the quality of service they offer to learners.
