Police have warned school administrators that they risk arrest and prosecution if they misuse examination registration fees collected from parents and students for candidates sitting this year’s national examinations conducted by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
UNEB is currently registering candidates for the 2026 national examinations, with the normal registration period scheduled to close on June 30, 2026.
Speaking during the weekly security briefing, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kituuma Rusoke cautioned head teachers and school administrators against misappropriating registration fees paid by candidates.
He said anyone found diverting or misusing the funds would be held accountable under the law and could face arrest and prosecution.
Kituuma also warned schools against charging parents registration fees that exceed the official rates set by UNEB.
He urged parents and guardians to verify the approved registration fees and report any cases of overcharging to the relevant authorities.
The police warning comes amid ongoing candidate registration exercises across the country as UNEB prepares for the 2026 national examinations.
