The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, has confirmed that this year’s Heroes Day celebrations will be held at State House Entebbe under strict Ebola Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Speaking at the Uganda Media Centre ahead of the annual June 9 commemoration, Babalanda said the event will be conducted on a scaled-down basis as a precautionary measure against the Ebola threat.
She revealed that no medals will be awarded during this year’s celebrations and that no international guests are expected to attend the event.
The Minister noted that this year’s Heroes Day will be commemorated under the theme: “Protecting the Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into a High Middle Income Status.”
Babalanda urged Ugandans across the country to follow the celebrations through live broadcasts on various television, radio, and digital media platforms.
Heroes Day is observed annually on June 9 to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions and sacrifices toward Uganda’s liberation, development, and progress.
