Police Reassure Public as Security Tightens Ahead of Presidential Swearing-In

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire

Police in Kampala have moved to reassure the public that the heightened security presence across the city is part of routine preparations ahead of the upcoming presidential swearing-in ceremony, and should not be a cause for concern.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the increased deployment of security personnel is a standard operational measure aimed at ensuring safety, order, and smooth conduct during major national events.

He emphasized that the visible security operations are preventive in nature and should be understood as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability across the capital.

Owoyesigyire further noted that ongoing operations are focused on deterring potential threats, dismantling violent groups, and addressing criminal activity within communities.

He said these interventions are intended to create a secure environment for residents and visitors as the country prepares for the inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni scheduled for May 12.

He urged the public to remain calm, cooperative, and vigilant, encouraging citizens to continue their daily activities while supporting security agencies in maintaining law and order.
