Conservative Party Urges NUP MPs to Boycott Swearing-In and Launches “Red Book” Human Rights Initiative

Eliton Joseph Mabirizi

The Conservative Party (CP) has urged all elected Members of Parliament from its sister opposition party, National Unity Platform (NUP), to refrain from swearing in and reject the election of the Leader of Opposition (LOP) if they are confident they won the 2026 presidential election.

CP presidential candidate in the recently concluded elections, Eliton Joseph Mabirizi, told reporters in Lubaga that NUP MPs should boycott parliamentary procedures to signal to the ruling government that Ugandans reject the presidential results and are dissatisfied with the outcome.

He described participation in parliamentary duties under the current results as a waste of taxpayers’ money.

In parallel, the party has launched the “Red Book” initiative, aimed at documenting human rights abuses and atrocities, with plans to pursue justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Mabirizi highlighted concerns over rising human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings, disappearances, and torture, particularly affecting opposition supporters and activists.

He called on Ugandans with credible evidence of abuses to come forward and register their cases to ensure accountability for those responsible, including government officials and security personnel.
