Religious leaders have called on Ugandan politicians to uphold integrity and fight corruption, which they say is crippling the nation.
The appeal was made by Rev. Fr. Joseph Kasasa of Kamwokya Catholic Parish during a thanksgiving Mass held by Makindye West Member of Parliament, Hon. Allan Ssewanyana.
The event was organized to thank God for Ssewanyana’s life and to seek blessings as he launches his campaign to retain his parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
Fr. Kasasa urged leaders to lead by example, speak the truth, reject corruption, and serve the people selflessly.
He emphasized that effective leadership can only be achieved through faith in God.
“Leaders must be exemplary, rooted in truth and integrity. If they are to succeed, they must put God at the center of their leadership,” Fr. Kasasa said.
Meanwhile, Hon. Allan Ssewanyana announced that he will contest the 2026 general elections as an independent candidate, following his loss in the National Unity Platform (NUP) primaries.
