Local musician Douglas Mayanja, known professionally as Weasel, is currently hospitalized following a suspected domestic altercation in Munyonyo that left him with serious injuries.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Weasel was allegedly run over by a vehicle driven by his partner, Sandra Teta, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The incident reportedly took place around midnight outside Shan’s Bar in Munyonyo.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed that Sandra Teta is in custody at Kabalagala Police Station and faces charges of unlawful wounding.
The car involved, registered as UBH 148Y, has been impounded as police continue their investigations.
Weasel was initially taken to Mukwaya Hospital before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he is receiving ongoing medical treatment.
Police inquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
