Modern Karibuni Lounge commissioned at Entebbe International Airport

The Ministry of Works and Transport, in partnership with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), has officially commissioned the modernized Karibuni Lounge at Entebbe International Airport.

The upgraded business-class facility is aimed at improving the overall travel experience for high-value passengers.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, described the lounge as a space designed for comfort, productivity, and relaxation.

It features a range of new amenities, including baby changing rooms, an infant playroom, a designated smoking area, and massage chairs.

The refurbished lounge now boasts an expanded seating capacity up from 160 to 300 seats significantly enhancing the airport’s service offering and ambience.

Gen. Katumba encouraged the public to embrace the upgraded facility and called on airport management to ensure that the quality of service matches the new infrastructure, thereby providing a world-class experience to travelers.

UCAA Director General Fred Bamwesigye highlighted the importance of such developments, especially as passenger numbers continue to rise.

He noted that in May 2025 alone, Entebbe International Airport handled 97,568 arriving passengers and 100,484 departing passengers bringing the total to 198,052, with a daily average of 6,388 travelers.

The new Karibuni Lounge is part of broader efforts to modernize Entebbe International Airport and position it as a competitive regional hub.
