Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among braved a morning downpour to attend her nomination at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission headquarters at Plot 13, Kyadondo Road in Kampala.
She is vying for the position of Second Female Vice Chairperson in the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), competing against First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
The nomination was conducted by the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, and his deputy, Fred Jachan Omach.
Alongside Among, other candidates who were nominated for various CEC positions included Joseph Kalangwa for Vice Chairman Central Region, Captain Michael Mukula for Vice Chairman Eastern Region and Collins Tanga for Chairman NRM Youth League.
Hamson Obua for Vice Chairman Northern Region, Ann Ruyondo Lumumba for Secretary Finance Women’s League, Faridah Kimbowa for National Chairperson Women’s League, and Alinaitwe Rwakajara for National Chairperson Workers’ League.
After her nomination, Speaker Among met with her supporters and delegates at Hotel Africana in Kampala, where she emphasized her dedication to strengthening the party and promoting inclusive leadership.
Today marks the final day of the nomination process for members of the party’s Central Executive Committee. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the NRM, is expected to be nominated in a special event tomorrow at the commission headquarters.
