A devastating fire has ravaged Nakawa Union Vision Secondary School in Butabika Hospital village, Nakawa Division, Kampala, completely destroying the boys’ dormitory.
According to a report filed at the Jinja Road Police Station, property worth millions of shillings has been lost. Fortunately, no lives were reported lost in the incident.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, has confirmed the fire, which is believed to have been caused by a short circuit.
In a related incident, another fire has destroyed the dormitory of Hoima Town Mosque Nursery and Primary School along Old Tooro Road in Hoima City.
The blaze, which broke out at around 11 a.m. this morning while students were in class, caused extensive property damage, amounting to millions of shillings.
Many students were left in distress, having lost personal belongings such as books, mattresses, and clothes, according to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson.
