Mufti Mubaje condemns terrorism during Eid al-Adha address

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubaje, has strongly condemned acts of terrorism and violence in Uganda and around the world.

Speaking during the Eid al-Adha celebrations at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council in Old Kampala today, Sheikh Mubaje emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace.

However, he expressed concern that many violent incidents whether alleged or confirmed often involve individuals identifying as Muslims.

His remarks came in the wake of an explosion near the Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine on Tuesday, June 3rd, which killed two suspected rebels, including a female suicide bomber, during the national celebrations of Uganda Martyrs Day.

The Mufti also criticized persistent attacks on Muslim leadership via social media by fellow Muslims.

He questioned whether such individuals truly understand or uphold the core values of their faith.
