The Democratic Alliance (DA) pressure group has officially launched a new political party named theDemocratic Front (DF), which will contest in Uganda’s 2026 general elections.
This development follows the Electoral Commission’s formal clearance of the Democratic Front as a recognized political party.
Speaking at a press conference held at the DA offices in Mengo, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, MP for Nyendo-Mukungwe in Masaka District, described the Democratic Front as a platform for “logical thinkers, progressive minds, and those who believe in political ethics and disciplined service delivery.”
He revealed that the party’s slogan is “Real Change, Act Now,” signaling its mission to bring about meaningful transformation in Uganda’s political landscape.
Mpuuga explained that the creation of DF was aimed at offering Democratic Alliance members a practical platform to gain political experience and lay the foundation for sustainable political careers.
He emphasized that the party is open to forming alliances with other political actors committed to change.
During the same event, Mpuuga also questioned the recent public apology made by President Museveni to the people of Buganda and Uganda at large, delivered over the weekend at the Kololo ceremonial grounds.
