The opposition Justice Forum (JEEMA) Youth League has today launched a civic awareness campaign dubbed “Gwe Minzaani” translated as “Weighing Scale” aimed at encouraging voters to critically assess all political candidates ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters, Hussein Kasule, Chairperson of the JEEMA Youth League, emphasized the need for voters to be more deliberate and informed in their choices.
He noted that many voters often get swept up in election excitement and cast their ballots without sufficient scrutiny, resulting in the election of leaders who prioritize personal gain over public service.
Kasule stated that it is the responsibility of voters to place all aspiring leaders on the weighing scale in 2026, for the good of the country.
JEEMA is also in the process of preparing for the upcoming Special Interest Groups (SIG) elections.
Meanwhile, Mamusi Kalungi, a youth leader within JEEMA and aspiring candidate for Busiro East, praised the Gwe Minzaani initiative.
He said the campaign has the potential to reshape leadership standards in Uganda, and urged fellow youth across the country to actively engage with the message and take a more active role in the democratic process.
