Two Members of Parliament were taken away by security operatives from Kazo Angola while supervising the Kawempe North Parliamentary by-election.

Geoffrey Kayemba Solo, MP for Bukomansimbi South, and Hilary Kiyaga, also known as Dr Hilderman, MP for Mawokota North in Mpigi district, were arrested after attempting to intervene when security personnel assaulted journalists.

According to Julius Mutebi Nsubuga, the Mayor of Kira Municipality, the MPs were trying to protect journalists who were being attacked while covering incidents of alleged election disruption.

Mayor Mutebi voiced concern over the arrests, stating that there is growing fear and uncertainty regarding the MPs’ whereabouts.
