Police have released photos of three men that are wanted for allegedly involving in the theft of coffee in transit worth 470 million shilling.
According to the police, five of these suspects were arrested and were arraigned before the Nabweru Magistrate Court where they were remanded over charges of stealing goods in transit.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson noted that the incident of changing coffee in transit from one vehicle to another happened at Mukono as the said coffee was being transported from Kasese to Mombasa, Kenya.
Onyango says that two of the three on the wanted list are; Sayid Kalule alias Bogere and Joab Mucunguzi and Juma Musisi a.k.a Young Mandela or Masape who is part of the five that were remanded but he was bailed out.
He adds that they discovered that Musisi had another case of stealing coffee in transit but after gaining bail, he decided to disappear.
Meanwhile, Joint Security Agencies have embarked on a hunt of the suspects behind the aggravated robberies that have recently happened in Kawempe division, Kampala.
This follows an incident of aggravated robbery in which one Fred Tibamanya, a resident of Kawempe was attacked by panga welding men on a motorcycle and robbed him of 100 million shillings which he had just withdrawn from Centenary Bank Kawempe Branch on January 10th 2025.
According to the police, Tibamanya (49) after withdrawing the money, he drove off his Toyota Harrier registration UBN 789W and upon getting stuck in traffic jam at Maganjo along Bombo road, the robbers who were riding on a motorcycle used a panga to attack him and they smashed the vehicle’s window and grabbed the bag that contained the money.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says that the suspects left the land titles that were in the bag, which is a sign that they had tracked him with the intention of stealing the money he had withdrawn.
He says that security agencies have put up joint efforts to have the suspects involved in these cases arrested and charged in the courts of law.
